Aristotelis (Telis) Varsamis<\/strong> is by far one of the most productive and sought-after painters and iconographers Grevena has ever known. His wide-ranging body of work adorns the walls of museums, public buildings, and private homes throughout Greece and beyond.<\/p>

Born in Mavronoros Grevena 80 years ago, his dream and passion as a young boy was to be a painter, an artist. From 1956 to1960 he studied drawing and painting under the painter, Xristos Rouseas, in Zakynthos. In 1975 he audaciously announces to his friend and fellow aspiring artist, Stergios Pseftogas to go to Germany and become artists. “He did not go there to be trapped in a factory as a foreign worker, but as a person responsible towards an apprenticeship to D\u00fcrer. But that trip ended soon. He quickly returned at home to complete himself, step by step, looking for his own personhood,” as the poet and writer Thanasis Georgiadis characteristically states. In 1976 Aristotelis Varsamis turned to iconography, studying in Trikala, under iconographer Emmanouil Albanis. In 1977 he settled permanently in Grevena, where he lives and creates up to this day.<\/p>

To honour this artist, a true native son of Grevena, we have created two retrospective exhibitions, hosted at the N & E Karnava Cultural Center. The first of the two exhibitions, Aristotle Varsamis – The Painter, seeks to present only a part of the wide range of his topics, the central point of which is his obsession with the female body. The second exhibition, entitled Aristotle Varsamis – The Iconographer, seeks to present the iconographic work of the artist and is scheduled to open to the public on October 13, 2022.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
